Pliocene
(2 million years ago)
Laguna Hills was an open coast two million years ago. The beach
was littered with shells and sea weed. Fish, sharks, and marine
mammals swam offshore. The sky was full of sea birds.
Orange County's familiar landscape and the Laguna Hills were beginning
to emerge from the sea. The future Santa Ana Mountain range was
slowly rising.
